Seven-day
itinerary for families with children
Saturday: Check in after 2:00 PM. Unpack and hit the beach.
Enjoy the rest of the day. Play in the sand, swim, & take in the
sun. Saturday evening wonder in town for a good dinner or maybe a walk
on the Promenade
finished off by some ice cream at your favorite parlor.
Sunday: This is your first full day at the beach, so you want to once
again enjoy the beach. Swim, make sand castles, boogie board, and just
have fun. By late afternoon your children will most likely be tired from
all of the sun and fun. For your evening pleasure you may want to play
cards, or a board game, or just hang out on the deck. This evening you
can relax, so you can start tomorrow fresh and ready for more fun.
Monday: Now that the weekend traffic has calmed down, you have many choices
for a fun filled day. If you have children who are old enough to go to
a water park, I highly recommend Morey’s Pier Raging Waters located
at Schellenger Ave. and the Boardwalk in Wildwood. For one price, you
and your children can enjoy the water park all day. Two things I like
about Morey’s water park is that you are allowed to bring food,
(which can save you a lot of money), and it is an extremely clean and
safe park. My suggestion is to arrive at the park at 9:00am when it opens
and claim an area with a beach umbrella. If you plan on bringing the
children back to go on the amusements, consider buying the combo ticket,
which allows you a full day at the park, and either that day or another
day of unlimited rides. The value is there.
After
a day at the park, the children will be exhausted from all the fun
and the rest of the day can be barbequing or hanging out at the property.
Tuesday: Most likely you will be ready for the beach again, since you
were away on Monday. You may want to spend a half-day on the beach
and then wonder down to the Cape May County Zoo. This zoo is centrally
located
off exit 11 of the Garden State Parkway in Cape May Court House. This
is a good size zoo and best of all it is free to the public. Wear good
shoes for walking. Sea Isle City offers “Free Family Fun & Flick
Night” which includes a free movie that you can bring your beach
chairs and watch. This takes place from 6:30-10:00 PM every Tuesday from
June 20th-August 31st.
Wednesday: If your children are of the age where they can go on the
water, you have many options that will give you a memorable day. Many
of the
Islands offer Kayaking, Jet Skiing, or Parasailing. Pick one the family
would enjoy and have a blast. If you want to head out to sea, there
are many fishing excursions and Cape May offers a whale-watching trip.
Enjoy
the day, but rest in the afternoon so you can hit the Boardwalk at
night. Both Ocean City and Wildwood offers a large Boardwalk with rides
for
everyone. Which one is better than the other? Wildwood offers more
rides and games for the older teens, while Ocean City is more family
friendly.
Depending on the age group, you will have to decide which one works
best for you.
Thursday: Once again I would spend the whole day on the beach. Take
walks, play Frisbee, Swim, and have a blast. Your vacation is still
alive and
fun. Find a local seafood house that you can sit on the docks where
the fish comes in fresh daily. The food doesn’t get any better than
that. In the evening you may want to find a miniature golf course and
do some shopping of souvenirs to bring home.
Friday: Your last full day at the beach. Enjoy it. I see so many people
start to panic about packing and cleaning that they don’t get to
enjoy this last day. Make your vacation last as long as you can!!! Do
whatever it is you want and don’t worry about the exiting procedures
until evening or Saturday morning.
Saturday: Your time has come to leave. You feel refreshed and you have
a tan. The children had a blast and you are already planning your visit
back next year!!!
