10 Things To Bring To Sea Isle
Many visitors to Sea Isle City, or any beach resort
in our area sometimes forget to pack particular items that will help
them have a safe, enjoyable vacation. Below is my list of the ten most
important things to bring on vacation that might otherwise be forgotten.
10. An Open Mind
If this is your first visit to Sea Isle, or if you have been coming for
many years, you want to come with and open mind. Our great town has gone
through many
changes over the years and each year we have more and more to offer. I’ve
written articles on “What to do in Sea Isle”, and I’m working
on “Other Adventures in Cape May County”, that you may want to read.
They will give you different ideas of other options of things to do while visiting
South Jersey.
9. Medications, Vitamins, and Over the Counter Needs
There is nothing worse than leaving on vacation and forgetting your
medication, vitamins, or other over the counter drugs that you need.
The prescriptions are
by far the worse, because you can waste a whole day trying to contact your
doctor to get a supply to last you until you get home. When your
vacation seems like
such a short time, you want to spend every minute enjoying all you can.
8. Comfortable Shoes
While visiting Sea Isle, you will want to be walking. You will most likely
walk five to ten times the amount you would walk in your normal routine, so
bring
comfortable shoes. This will allow you to go where you want without the problem
of sores, aches, and pains. Trust me, you will want to walk and take in all
the sights.
7. Sheets, Pillow Cases, and Towels
Most rental units on the Island do not come with linens and towels.
This responsibility falls on the renters, so remember to check all
bed sizes,
and come prepared.
If you happen to forget the linens, we have a local service, G& T Crib
and Linen Rental at 1-800-282-2742. You can also rent beach chairs, umbrellas,
gates,
and other useful products.
6. Cleaning Supplies
What you will find when renting a property in Sea Isle is that some owners
leave all the cleaning supplies you could ever need, while others rely on you
bringing
your own. My suggestion is to bring the essentials to clean the property when
you leave so you will insure you will receive your deposit back, and the owners
will be satisfied and allow you to rent from year to year.
5. Casual Clothes
Almost every place you want to go in our area welcomes casual clothes. Most
restaurants and bars welcome you in almost anything but a bathing suit, but
some require
a shirt w/collar for the men. Bring your beach attire, but also bring a couple
of nice pairs of shorts and some nice shirts w/collars. Ties are not necessary,
and if they are, you may want to re-think where you are going.
4. Sunglasses
Many people do not wear sunglasses under normal circumstances, so when they
leave for a vacation, they forget to bring them along. Once they arrive, they
see the
need for them, and have to spend extra money to purchase a pair, when they
have a pair sitting at home.
3. Camera
You will want to have pictures and/or video of the fun times you
have in our resort town, so don’t forget the camera and video
equipment. From Sunrises to Sunsets, you will have many opportunities
to capture
that ultimate
memory
to take home with you.
2. Several SPF Sun Tan Lotions
Many people who come to visit our resort town do not get out in the sun often,
and think they are coming down for a week as white as a ghost and will leave
us a Sun God or Goddess. This rarely happens and if they are not careful, they
will ruin their vacation by getting third, second, or even first degree burns
from the sun. They sometimes end up lying flat on their backs and leaving us
with a blistered body. Everyone should wear sun tan lotion. It is recommended
that at least a SPF of 30 or more be used. But we all know that we want to
leave with a bronzed body, so therefore we opt for a lesser SPF than recommended. One
large misbelief is that on a cloudy day, you will not burn. Many people
have received their worse sunburn ever from this false thinking. Even
on cloudy days,
beachgoers should wear the proper sun tan lotion.
Also,
check the expiration dates on your sun tan lotion. If you have had
it more than a year, most likely it has lost its effectiveness, and
you want to
purchase
a new bottle. 1. A Good Attitude And A Smile
As with anywhere you go, the vacation can be fantastic, or a bust
depending on your attitude. A good attitude is more important than
anything else you
bring
on this trip. You’ve paid a good price for a vacation in a wonderful place,
so come and have a blast. You have worked hard and need some time to relax, rejuvenate,
and relieve your stress. And you can’t beat Sea Isle City to help
you do all three. We welcome you hear and wish you memories that last a
lifetime!!!
